Maine Soup: A Recipe for Starving Artists

Local artists are getting a taste of Maine Soup and it's Mmm Mmm Good! That's because Maine Soup in Bangor gives artists a chance to feed money to their unfunded projects.  Like other "soup groups" across the country, Maine Soup offers an evening of mingling, eating soup and listening to local artists describe their projects in 2-3 minute presentations. Admission to the event is $5 which goes toward the pot of money that one lucky artist will win based on a voting process at the end of the night. Whether you have a project to fund or not, RSVPs are required and artists who do wish to present need to submit project proposals beforehand. This month's Maine soup is scheduled for Thursday, March 29th from 6-8pm on Ohio Street at Grange Hall. Last month's Maine Soup winner was Bhuki Nesin who won the pot of $150 to help fund his radio project "Looking Around" airing on UMaine's student run radio station WMEB 91.9FM.
