River City Cinema Presents MOOMilk Documentary Film "Betting the Farm"

Betting The Farm TRAILER from Pull-Start Pictures on Vimeo.

It's a story that seems to be repeating itself - Maine Dairy Farmers placed at the whim of major companies like H.P. Hood Inc and Dean Foods.  Dean Foods recently announced they will be closing their Garelick Farms production facility in Bangor.  In 2008, Hood dropped 10 Maine organic dairy farms in Washington & Aroostook counties.  With few options left, the farmers united to form a low-profit company, Maine's Own Organic Milk (MOOMilk), where 90% of the profits go back to the farmers.  The documentary film "Betting the Farm" follows the trials and tribulations of three of the farmers as they embark on this new business model for local, small-scale farms.  Don't miss the Bangor/Brewer screening of this award-winning film co-hosted by River City Cinema Saturday, December 1st at 7pm in the new Brewer Performing Arts Center.  Tickets are $8 and can be bought here.  MOOMilk can be purchased at Hannaford Supermarkets
